The 1961 European tour took place from November 11 through December 4, and immediately followed the Coltrane quintet's stay at the Village Vanguard (captured on Coltrane "Live" at the Village Vanguard and The Complete 1961 Village Vanguard Recordings). The tour consisted of a UK portion (Kilburn (London), Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leicester, Brighton, and Walthamstow (London)) from November 11 - 17, followed by a continental visit (Paris, Scheveningen, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Hannover, Hamburg, Copenhagen (again), Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Nuremberg, Munich, Berlin, and Baden-Baden) from November 18 - December 4.

Association P.C. with Jeremy Steig / Cologne
Jeremy Steig and the musicians of Association P.C. first met at the
"Jazz Now!" festival held in Munich during the Olympic Summer Games
1972. It was there that they decided to work together. The first joint
tour in the summer of 1973 produced the recordings that were released as
"Mama Kuku". More tours followed, the last (together with Jeremy Steig)
being a big tour in Asia and Northern Africa which was promoted by the
Goethe-Institut, Germany’s cultural institute.

Herbie Hancock - Feets Don't Fail Me Now (1979) [2015/FLAC]
Herbie Hancock's electric records up until this point were marked by intelligence and adventure, even at their most earthy. But no, this one doesn't have an ounce of either. Herbie falls hook, line and sinker for the disco fad and submerges his personality underneath the plastic vocals and four-on-the-floor disco beat. Hancock's own gauzy vocals through a Sennheiser vocoder are embarrassing, and even his synthesizer work sounds coarse and gimmicky. This time, even the purists were right; this is of no interest to jazz listeners and it isn't even good disco.
- Keyboards, Vocals – Herbie Hancock
- Bass – Ed Watkins
- Drums – James Gadson
- Guitar – Ray Obiedo
- Percussion – Bill Summers
- Backing Vocals – Julia Tillman Waters, Luther Waters, Maxine Willard Waters, Oren Waters

Denny Zeitlin - Mosaic Select 34 (The Columbia Studio Trio Sessions 1964-1967) [3 CD, 2009/FLAC]
Considering the hot pianists of the day were Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, and George Shearing, what Denny Zeitlin brought to the table as a performer and composer was a unique perspective that could have trumped them all. Had his professional calling not been that of a full-time clinical psychiatrist, he might have been the "it" guy had he received the kind of publicity the other three garnered. This outstanding offering in the Mosaic Select series contains Zeitlin's three piano-bass-drums recordings for Columbia Records done in Los Angeles, all which have become collectors' items on vinyl for their smaller press runs, but also the excellent music contained. The three-CD set includes some bonus tracks previously unreleased, but are not Zeitlin's complete studio works from this period, as he chose not to issue a handful of other selections or any alternate takes.
Frank Sinatra - The Complete Capitol Singles Collection (4 CD, 1996/FLAC)
The Complete Capitol Singles Collection is exactly what it says it is all of Frank Sinatra's singles for Capitol Records, both the A-sides and B-sides, as well as duets with artists like Jo Stafford, June Hutton, and the Nuggets, presented in chronological order. Although the majority of these tracks have been collected on other compilations, this four-disc box set is the first time all of the singles have been collected on one set. It also represents the first time many of these tracks over 20 have appeared on disc, and quite a few haven't been reissued since their original release. Arguably, Sinatra was at his creative peak during his tenure at Capitol, and while he did release carefully considered albums, his singles which never appeared on the albums were just as electrifying and satisfying as the full-length LPs. In other words, it's an essential set.
